The philosophy of education from Northern Italy has captured the hearts and minds of numerous educators from around the world, in a vast array of contexts. The ideas from Reggio Emilia are innovative, complex, intriguing and highly inspiring, yet not always easy to grasp and translate into every day practice.

This workshop is an opportunity to explore some of the many layers of this approach, dipping into the guiding principles that underpin the philosophy together with the practical side of how to integrate the ideas as part of your cultural context.

Participants will have an opportunity to think, share, question, research and wonder, building knowledge and understanding as a community of learners, with a renewed lens on teaching and learning.

Kirsty has had extensive experience as a practitioner and leader in a variety of contexts in early childhood, with the most recent as Director of Cornish College Early Learning Centre, in Victoria, Australia. Many educators from around the world have visited this early learning centre as a place of provocation, innovation and inspiring practice. Kirsty was awarded a national excellence in teaching award for innovative practice together with an award for Victoria for her contribution to the early childhood sector.

Kirsty is an elected committee member of the Reggio Emilia Australia Information Exchange (REAIE). This philosophy has had a profound influence on Kirsty both professionally and personally, continuing to fuel a hope for children, all children to be respected, understood and to encounter places that honour the potential in all children.

Kirsty now consults and lectures widely both nationally and internationally, supporting and collaborating with educational teams to further develop their pedagogy and practice.

  • An exploration of how we construct our ‘image of child’ and what this means for everyday practice together with professional identity
  • Responsive environments to reflect beliefs and values

  • Building relationships with people, environments and materials; exploring the principle of the hundred languages
  • Beautiful environments that invite inquiry and exploration
  • An interactive session where participants will be able to play with ideas, and gain an insight into the ‘intelligence of materials’

Educational documentation

  • Making visible the processes of children’s learning together with the educators thinking
  • Identifying the significance of learning moments to critically reflect and inform a responsive curriculum

Fees include all materials necessary for the workshops, lunches and coffee breaks during workshop days. Workshop fees do not cover transportation or accommodation.


Participants are responsible for any visas.


Payment will be made via bank transfer.
Bank detailed information will be given via confirmation email.
Please indicate participant name and workshop in the transfer reference.
Please also note that all charges are the responsibility of the remitter.
Full payment is due within 4 working days after confirmation of registration.
Spaces are limited. If payment has not been received within the deadline, spaces will be released to other interested persons.


  • If you are unable to attend this event, you may send a substitute delegate in your place at no additional cost. Please advise us of any substitutions as soon as possible. The participation fee will not be reimbursed upon cancellation if done then less than one month of the workshop date.

  • 4 Generations 4 Education will not be responsible for any loss or damage arising from any changes to or cancellation or rescheduling of the workshop. If the workshop is cancelled or rescheduled, 4 Generations 4 Education will make every effort to contact every registered delegate. In case of cancellation or reschedule of a workshop, 4 Generations 4 Education will reimburse the participation fee, keeping 10% as service charge.
